In my training I apply some of the principals of Natural Horsemanship taught by the masters of it. On the other hand I use Clicker Training as a separate training tool or in combination with natural horsemanship – hence “The Natural Click”. The method I use (or combination of) depends on the horse in question and on what I aim to achieve in each training situation.
My perception of Natural is to look at the world from the horse’s perspective. The understanding of horse behaviour and the ability to read their body language are very important advantages in training. Through body language, horses tell us when they are uncomfortable, confused, scared or in pain; but they also tell us when they are happy, in acceptance of a situation and when they understand what we are trying to communicate with them.
It is very important to be on the same page with your horse. To achieve the best possible results in training, the horse must willingly participate in the training.
May every training experience bring out the best in you and may you find ways to unlock the horse within your horse!
